1. Q : How to present TickTask to a child? 

 A : It is recommended to present TickTask as a special clock that helps us to organize our daily   activities and complete them in a timely matter. It is important to present TickTask as belonging to the child but as a tool that is helping the whole family.

2. Q : Does the child see TickTask as an 'enemy' or as a 'friend'? 

     A : child relates to the TickTask as it is presented to him. The parents' positive approach will influence the child's relationship with TickTask as a friendly and helpful tool. It is possible that at times a child will refuse to use it. No worries this is a natural and temporary reaction, It will pass with time and familiarity to the TickTask. It is also important that the tasks and the time allocated fit the child's ability. He must be able to recognize that the tasks are accomplishable in the time provided.

     A : TickTask is an external support and with time, a child internalizes the skills and habits developed through the use of TickTask and his understanding of time and task management improves. There are other situations where the child internalizes the sequence of the tasks and chooses to use the TickTask time only. There are children that will use TickTask periodically. When you notice a change – its becoming difficult again to get organized or your child's motivation slows-than the use of TickTask will come in handy again.

     A : In this case it is important to first 'calm down' the situation and reduce the stress level. It is recommended to spend some 'play time' every day to familiarize the child with the TickTask. When the family schedule allows, use it with very few tasks, and allow plenty of time to accomplish. Use TickTask for the child to monitor a parent's task and in doing so, he will recognize how you are using it as a guide which exhibits no pressure. You may wish to use for easily accomplished tasks at first and save harder tasks for later date.

5. Q : My child forgets to look at the TickTask and use it regularly. What can be done? 

     A : It is recommended to use the reminder system. To arrange his tasks with the time table so TickTask will ring and remind the child that he is to follow TickTask and move on to the next task. It is important to remind ourselves as parents, especially at the very beginning to help, remind and encourage the child of the use of TickTask. New habits (especially good ones) are difficult to start. You should allow yourself two to three weeks and mistakes will be made along the way. These will diminish with time as you begin to internalize the use of TickTask.

    A: The responsibility is on the parent to identify when your child's motivation begins to wane and make the necessary changes to continue to get the desired results. It is important to know when to implement changes and new ideas so the motivation level stays high.
Once a child has master the basic requirements (and you have achieved a desired level of new behavior) a parent may increase the complexity or demand of the system and at the same time, increase the reward. Complexity can be increase by increasing the length of time that the child works under a set schedule. It could mean that the number of tasks has increased or the time used to accomplish certain tasks has decreased.

7.  Q : My child is young and can not follow the direction of the hands of the clock, he gets confused between the tasks that are ahead and the one that passed. How can we help him/her? 

     A : First, start the use of TickTask with very few tasks (two or three). When each task is done and the hands have passed have the child remove that task from the board. Only the tasks that remain to be completed will remain and the child can focus on the one coming up.
Later, the smiley stickers can be used to cover the tasks that were accomplished and then move to the next one. Also additional tasks can be added (one at a time) s the child tolerate, and be successful with the change.

8. Q : The hands of the clock are very confusing for my child. He struggles to follow the relevant hand and its direction. How can we help? 

     A : You can remove the hour hand (purple) and leave just the minute hand (red). This will not effect the operation of the TickTask as the hour hand is there only for telling time. To remove the hand, turn the clear dome cover to the point where it comes off. Remove the red hand, than the purple hand. Place the red back and place the clear cover back.

9.  Q : My child is having trouble with finishing some of the tasks on time, (like brushing teeth, eating breakfast) but he is able to leave home on time. Is that OK? 


      A :  What's important is that the child accomplishes the general plan and leaves home on time after following the different tasks even though he didn’t finish them all.
It is possible that one task will take longer than anticipated but another task will be completed faster than expected. It is important to follow the routine and if needed, change the time that was originally scheduled for a specific task according to the child's specific pace.
